U P D A T E
Last week the Little League International Board of Directors approved the dates for the 2015 Softball World Series the 12th year at Lower Sussex.
Our dates are August 2 to August 9 with teams arriving on August 1.
TV games are listed below:
- Friday - August 7 - Senior League semi final games.
- Saturday - August 8 - 2 PM - Senior League Championship Game followed by 2 Big League semi final games following the championship game.
- Sunday - August 9 - Big League Championship game.

Milford Wins Big League Title
The USA East team from Milford Little League captured the 2014 Big League Softball World Series title with a 1-0 win over the District 3 Host team from Laurel Little League in an 8 Inning game.
In the Consolation Game at Comiskey Park, Central prevailed over Southwest 5-4.

Its an All Delaware Final
USA East (Milford LL) pounded out 9 runs, including a 3 run homer by Whitey Dimora to beat Southwest (Brownsville, TX) 9-1 in the first Semi-Final game Friday. Shaina Reed pitched the complete game with 7 K's for the win.
East scored in 4 of the innings, and took the lead in the 4th on Dimora's homer.
In the night cap, Dist 3 Host (Laurel LL) had to come from a 4 run deficit to tie Central (Michigan), then had to play another 9 inning game to finally win on a walk off double by Haily Andrews. Andrews had 3 doubles in the game. Regan Green struck out 9 in relief to get the win.
Central had home runs from Duddles, Ramos and Freeman, and seemed in control of the game until Laurel scored 3 runs in the 4th and added the tieing run in the 5th. Central took the lead back with single runs in the 5th and 6th, but Laurel came back to tie in the bottom of the 7th with 2 runs on Andrew's 2nd double of the night.
Andrews then doubled again in the 9th to score the winning run.
The final matches the Host Team from Laurel, DE with the East Champion from Milford, DE on Layton Field at 5 PM. Game will also be on ESPN.

Canada vs Southeast - Comisky - 10 AM

West vs Asia Pacific - Comisky - 7 PM
On Tap for Thursday
Its the Last day for Pool Play in the Big League World Series. In Pool A, the East is sitting on a 3-1 record and draws a bye, but the 2 teams below them, both at 2-1 play today.
In Pool A, the Host team (2-1) faces Latin America (2-1) at Comiskey Park at 5:30 PM, the winner would tie East in the standings, and then it comes down to tie-breakers. In Pool B, West (1-1) faces Southwest (1-1) on Comiskey at 8 PM, with the winner securing the #2 spot in the pool and the semi final game on Friday.
Also playing are Asia Pacific and Southeast. That game is on Layton at 5:30 PM.
The games for the Big League start at 5:30 PM tonight at the Lower Sussex Little League Complex in Roxana.
Wednesday is Harris-Teeter Day
You've seen their signs around the Roxana Little League Complex, and now the 2014 Little League Big and Senior League World Series takes a day to recognize Harris-Teeter, Neighborhood Food and Pharmacy, one of our major sponsors.
Harris-Teeter Day includes a chance to get to know this multi-state but local Supermarket Chain, meet some of their store personnel at the park, and maybe even get a picture with "Harry the Happy Harris-Teeter Dragon!"

Its another fun day at the World Series, bring your camera 'cause Harry would love to get his picture taken with you. The first games start at 3:00 PM at the Lower Sussex Little League complex in Roxana, DE.
Tuesday's Big League Highlights
USA Central wins their 3rd game and clinches first place in Pool B, with an 8-3 win over USA West. Central now waits to see which team finishes 2nd in Pool A, which is currently led by USA East who beat Asia-Pacific 10-3 Tuesday afternoon.
3 teams are still in contention for the 2nd place Pool B honors - we still have 2 days of pool play coming.
Meanwhile in Pool A, USA East is 3-0 but faces a tough Latin American team on Wednesday. The winner of that game could wind up on top. Meanwhile 3 teams are 1-1 with 2 games to play Wednesday morning and all 3 could still catch the East team. Today's games:
- Latin America at East
- Southwest at Canada
- Asia-Pacific at Host D3
Games start at 3:00 PM at the Lower Sussex Little League park in Roxana.
The Rains Came
And the Schedule got scrambled, but even with a 2 hour delay, the 2014 Big League Softball World Series only has one game to play to get back on schedule.
USA Central and USA Southwest were scheduled to play on Comiskey Park Sunday at 8 PM. The standing water on the field ended that possibility, but because of a game cancellation on Monday, The game will be played at Layton at 3 PM instead.
And the East Team?
Comes from Delaware.
The team from District 1, Milford, DE, won the Big League Softball East Regional with a 2-0 win over the team from Walden, New York. Earlier, New York had edged Milford 1-0, but the girls from Delaware prevailed in the final game.
USA East will play the District III Host team on opening day.

USA West Team from California
The California District 51 defeated their downstate rivals 9-5 in the Championship game in Lancaster, CA Wednesday to earn their berth in the 2014 Little League Big League Softball World Series.
USA West plays Canada in Game 1 of the Big League Softball World Series on Sunday.
Two More Teams Qualify
Representing USA Central will be the All Star team from District 9 in Michigan. They defeated Indiana, District 11 9-2 Monday afternoon to earn a berth in the 2014 Little League Big League Softball World Series.
And representing USA Southeast will be the girls from District 9, Ft Myers/Cape Coral in Florida who defeated Virginia 11-0 to earn their trip to Roxana.
Both teams will be playing in the Big League World Series starting Sunday, August 3rd.
Laurel Wins Host Berth
The Laurel Little League Big League Softball All Star team played "seeing eye softball" Friday night, to defeat the team from Georgetown/Millsboro, 3-1 in a game played at the Millsboro Little League Complex.
The win marks a return to Roxana for many of the players who competed (and won) Senior League World Series Championships at the Senior Softball World Series over the past few years. Laurel won the Senior League World Series title in 2011.
They will open their hunt for the World Series title against USA East on Sunday Evening, August 3rd.

Puerto Rico Dist 1 Returns to Roxana
It took 3 games, but the Big League team from Puerto Rico District 1 in San Juan prevailed over the Soraida Juliana Little League of Curacao Sunday evening, 7-0, to earn a berth in the 2014 Little League Big League Softball World Series in Delaware next month.
Earlier in the week, District 1 had squeaked out a 2-1 win over Curacao, and after winning the first game in the Championship round 7-2, lost a 2-3 decision to the team from Willemstad in game 2.
It came down to a "rubber" game, with Puerto Rico District 1 taking charge and scoring 7 runs while shutting out Curacao to take the Regional Trophy.
Fans of he Senior Softball World Series will recognize a few of the names on the Latin American Roster, including the Manager, Victor Colon, who won the 2012 title with the ASOFEM Little League.
Windsor, Ontario Returns to Big League Series
The team from Windsor, Ontario will again represent Canada in the 2014 Little League Big League Softball World Series held in Roxana, DE.
Philippines to Represent Asia-Pacific
The District 1 team from Manila, Philippines won the Asia-Pacific Regional Tournament held at Clark, Philippines to advance to the Big league Softball World Series.
The team defeated Guam to advance.
Semi-Finals and Finals are All on ESPN This Year
The ESPN Family of Networks will be broadcasting both of Friday's Little League Big League Softball World Series Semi-Finals and Saturday's Final games from Bruce Layton Field in 2014.
The Semi-Final games with the top team in each pool facing the #2 team in the opposite pool, are currently scheduled to be broadcast as follows:
The Championship Game will be on ESPN 2 at 5 PM featuring the winners of Friday's semi-finals.
- Game 23 - ESPN-U at 4:00 PM
- Game 23 - ESPN-U at 7:00 PM.
Two World Series Alums Sign Softball Letters of Intent
Karlie Smith and Rachel Hudson signed their Letters of Intent to attend college on Softball Scholarships last week as reported in the CoastalPoint sports section.
Indian River Standouts sign Letter of Intent
Shortstop Karlie Smith will be attending East Carolina, Pitcher Rachel Hudson will play at Flagler college. Both were regulars on the 2013 Little League Big League Champion District 3 All-Star team. The Little League Big League World Series was moved to Roxana in 2013. The District 3 Host team was a true All Star team, featuring some of the top Softball players in Sussex County.
